What is YOUR reaction to black nail polish designs? I personally love doing my nails with a glossy black polish about once every couple of months. If I wasn’t so busy experimenting in the meantime I’d probably wear it more often.

Compliments of PhotoBucket (thanks!)
I’m often asked for a photo of myself in full fashion gear with black nails – my readers want to see what I think looks good on myself…not going to happen – sorry! I’m a bit publicity shy when it comes to my appearance – likely some childhood thing with my parents or the family pet or my experiences in grade school…who knows…all I know is I don’t mind sharing my nail designs and thinking on the latest OPI nail polishes [yes current favorite], but you won’t be seeing my face any time soon!
I like black nail polish – I’m more in love with the glossy variants than the matte finish, and of course LOVE the black shatter polishes from OPI – dark purple or multiple flavors or red as the base coat are my current favorite effects with crackle polish.
The photo on this page shows how decent black polish can look with short nails – however, this looks like either a slightly sloppy manicure or home effort, or it’s been a couple of weeks since she has added black to her nails!
I’m going to go out on a limb here and express my opinion on older women with black polish – I don’t like it. When I see someone with kids, looking a bit haggard after a long day at the office and then taking care of their kids, and see her sporting long or short black nails [or toenails] …well, it doesn’t work for me. It breaks all associations with adventure, and daring, and risky…all emotions that are evoked by black nail designs.
Sorry if I am offending some of my readers, and I may change my mind in 15-20 years when I am in that situation, but black polish just doesn’t work for me on older women…
Disagree? Sound off – tell me why.
