Are you looking beautiful in your new red nail polish?
No doubt about it. Red nail polish designs can be sassy – pair it with the right outfit and watch out world!

Red – the color of blood…the color of love…an angry color at times….but oh how fun to wear! A glaring contrast against a conservative business suit makes heads turns and people will be doing a double take…who is this person? A professional with a bit of wild side? A businesswoman in the fashion industry? Mystery…red nail colors can give you that mystery…Some women may not associate beautiful nails with red polish, but oh how wrong they would be!
I personally like the real dark reds – the OPI Malaga Wine polish is a favorite of mine if you like darker red polishes. The OPI polish “Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It” is in my mind the classic bright red, hint of danger and fun color. With a name like that how you can not get in trouble with these opi nails?
You really need to experiment with the various shades of red polish to see what works for your particular look! I feel the brighter reds are awesome for a party or social event with club type clothes, am a bit nervous about wearing them too often into the office, but find towards the weekend if I put on this bright red polish it puts me in a carefree, ready to have fun mood that lasts through the entire weekend! During warm weather I like the look of matching nail and toenail polish in reds, but to be honest in the back of my head am always worried I may look a bit like a hussy.
Shorter nails look better with red polish in my opinion – if they are too long you start looking like a vampire! the picture above is an ideal length for what I consider beautiful red nails!
Also be sure and do a solid opaque red – you don’t want any of your nail to show through – really opaque solids are the best.
Some of my friends think that red polish stays on better than other colors – as if the pigments used in that nail polish are stronger. I don’t have enough experience with this yet to weigh in. Be sure of course that your nails don’t chip. Since red is so noticeable, chips can destroy the effect quicker than with other colors, so keep a close eye on them and try and protect them as much as possible.
Once you get sick of red [hard to imagine], you can always go check out the Katy Perry Crackle nail polish for a completely different approach to your nails!
That’s likely just my insecurity though versus a real perception – who knows?
What do you think? What is your favorite color of red nail polish – what clothes do you wear it with, and in what atmosphere – home, office, party, social outings ?
